Exchanging a Driving License and Moving

Exchanging a Foreign Driving License
A maximum of one year is granted to anyone recently settled in Monaco to exchange their foreign driving license for a Monegasque license. Please note that the exchange is mandatory; after the one-year period, you will have to retake the driving test.

Register a Vehicle
Any person holding a Resident Card can register their vehicle in Monaco. Go to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office with the completed form(s), your Resident Card, and your Monegasque driver’s license.

Holders of a Greek driving license residing in Monaco must replace it, no later than 12 months from their establishment , with the corresponding driving license of the Principality. The authority responsible for issuing the new license is the Service des Titres de Circulation .

For the change you need :

  • Completed application for the change of license (Request for a National or International Driving Licence form -Demandes de permis de conduire Form STC/010)
  • Application for the issuance of AND international driving license (IDL/IDP), if the applicant so wishes
  • The original Greek driving license, translated into French (official translation from the consulate – cost approximately €20 + postage)
  • The Carte de Séjour (photocopy)
  • A passport photo

Total replacement cost approximately €100
