Etiquette & Decorum

A message from Kathleen Jones, Founder and Director of the Etiquette & Decorum:

“Traditionally, people were more aware of their “place” in Society.
Our modern era offers us more opportunities and the freedom to choose our place – which is amazing!
But what is our place in the world? Are we aware of the different perspectives? Are we prepared for new situations?
Think of all your “moments of truth”, when you felt uncomfortable not knowing how to act or edit your behaviour.

You might have heard of the 4 Cs: critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity.
I am a fan of the 4 Cs because with all this talk about artificial intelligence, when we focus so much on the data, we forget the social and emotional aspects of life.
I particularly like the French expression “le regard familier est un regard paresseux” as it perfectly describes importance of awareness and personal development.

I don’t have a “green thumb”, I get by with orchids and succulents but that’s about it. I am, however, fond of the “cultivated life”.
Mahatma Gandhi once said: “I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people”.
This could not be truer today. The development of soft skills has become essential. Style, manners, attitude and awareness are just as important as technical skills.

Research has shown that up to age 12, the brain is at its most receptive state, capable of connecting a lot of different pieces of information and data, so capitalising at an early age on education is a great investment for the future of our generations.

Our programs offer you a modern solution with a variety of workshops in International Etiquette, Cross-culture and Savoir-vivre.
Knowledge transfer and skill building is what we do, and feel strongly about it.

Thank you for your trust”
