NEW YEAR’S VASILOPITA CELEBRATION

Yacht Club de Monaco, 22 January 2023
On the occasion of the traditional Greek annual ceremony “Cutting of the Vasilopita” the Hellenic Community of Monaco organized a festive event on Sunday 22nd, at the Yacht Club de Monaco.
Members with their families, as well as friends of the Hellenic Community, joined the traditional Greek celebration.  During the event, the president of the Hellenic Community MrsSophia Vaharis Tsouvelekakis addressed a speech to the participants presenting the 2022 annual report as well as the mission of the Hellenic Community, the role, and activities in Monaco and in Greece. The Treasurer of the Hellenic Community Dr. Panagiotis Kyriazis presented the financial statement for the year 2022.
The ceremony was officiated by His Eminence Metrop

olitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon who was awarded an honorary distinction for his great contribution to Christianity and the people in general.
The event was also honored by the presence of HE the Ambassador of France to Monaco Mr. Laurent Stefanini, HE the Minister of State Mr. Pierre Dartout with his wife Helen,  SE the Archbishop in Monaco Mgr Dominique-Marie David, His Eminence Metropolitan Demetrios of France and the Honorary General Consul of Greece to Monaco Mr. Petros Machas.
Moreover, during the “Vasilopita” event, the President Sophia Vaharis Tsouvelekakis addressed a warm welcome to the new Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarhate (Mr.Petros Machas, Mr. Grigorios Stassinopoulos, Mr. Konstantinos Tsouvelekakis, Mr. Nikolaos Hadjioannou) and thanked the Archons from the United States, who travelled a long way to attend the event!

The winner of the “lucky coin 2023” was the Hellenic Community membership no. 0843 and the prize offered (thanks to our sponsor Mr. & Mrs. Galanis) is a weekend at the VATHI CO

VE luxurious resort hotel in the beautiful Greek island of Thasos!
It is also worth mentioning that the worldwide acclaimed French sculptor artist Mrs. Laurence JENK provided the famous “candy sculptures” painted in the colors of Greece and Monaco!
