Expositions Nouveau Musée National de Monaco
The New National Museum of Monaco is currently presenting two exhibitions:
- Tremors, Recent Acquisitions from the NMNM until May 15 at Villa Paloma.
The exhibition presents a selection of contemporary works acquired over the past ten years by the New National Museum of Monaco. From the installation Alien by South African artist Candice Breitz to the film The White Album by American Arthur Jafa, the exhibition brings together seventeen artists of twelve different nationalities, offering as many visions of our globalized and fractured societies. All have in common the definition of the thought of trembling which, in the words of the poet Édouard Glissant, “unites us in absolute diversity, in a whirlwind of encounters . ”
- Monaco-Alexandria, The Great Detour, World Cities and Cosmopolitan Surrealism until May 2 at the Villa Sauber. The exhibition aims to create a dialogue between Monaco and Alexandria, two world cities with eloquent yet little-known links, woven together in the heart of the 20th century through transnational themes: (post)orientalist ballets and shows, southern surrealism, fauna and flora, feminist eroticism, urban development and nightlife; ultimately, the symbols and poetics of cosmopolitanism through two great Mediterranean crossroads; both marked as much by the imprint of tourist dreams and myths as by that of avant-gardes in exile.
